Approaching a game with nothing riding on it
“We have a responsibility to finish off the group in the best way possible. It’s always important to win to keep positive momentum going, both in terms of individual and team performance. It’s true that this could have been a game which decided who qualified from the group, which of course would’ve been a different scenario. We need to have the positive, winning mentality that we’ve had in the last few games to try to beat Celtic.”
Squad news
“Claudio Bravo isn’t back in full training yet, he’s not in the squad for the game. I hope he’ll be available again and back to 100% next week. Martín Montoya is in the squad. He hasn’t done much training but he’s fully recovered.”
A chance to claim a ‘prestigious’ win in Glasgow?
“I think it’s a mentality that every team needs to have at all times, no matter what. Of course, there’s not the same amount of pressure on this game as there would’ve been if we needed a result to qualify. But I think you have to show pride, a desire to win and not lose, and have a winning mentality in every game. I hope that’s what the team shows tomorrow.”
Monday’s draw and teams dropping down from the Champions League
“We’re not thinking about it at all. Today’s (Wednesday’s) Champions League games still have to be played, we don’t have any preferences. We’ll see who we get in the draw on Monday. We’re more focused on tomorrow’s game and keeping our positive, winning momentum going, on playing a good match with good individual performances. Once the game’s over, we’ll think about the next one against Real Sociedad, then we’ll see which of the Champions League teams we get.”
Fekir suspension and return
“I think having a week off will have done Nabil good, he’d played a lot of football up to then. We obviously would’ve wanted to have him available, he’s a really important player for us. But as I’ve said before, this team isn’t just Nabil Fekir and I think the players showed that with a great performance against Barcelona. But he’s a really important player for us and I hope he’ll come back playing at the same level he was at before his suspension.”
A danger of complacency after five wins in a row?
“The squad is aware that winning or losing can come down to two or three defining moments in a game. If you change them, the result changes. The players are totally committed, which you can see from what they’ve achieved in both competitions. Now the Copa del Rey is coming too. We’ve got something to fight for in all of them, so I’m not expecting us to ease up tomorrow or on Sunday. What we’ve done up until now isn’t going to make us win tomorrow. We need to repeat what we’ve been doing and do it consistently until we’ve achieved something this season.”
